8I3M “The Human Engine”

Is it just me or is time moving by really fast? The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind as planning for the August 22-26, 2010 Eighth International Meeting for Manikins and Modeling (8I3M) moves from the “thinking” to the “doing” phase. Our conference co-sponsors at the Sport Innovation Centre (with Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence as a working partner, along with Canadian Sport Centre Pacific and Camosun College) have already put together some amazing food, lodging, and local travel recommendations, and there appears to be no shortage of potential activities available for attendees who wish to explore the sights in and around our Victoria, BC, Canada conference location.

While it’s still a work-in-progress, the new 8I3M website is up and beginning to take shape. I encourage anyone thinking about attending to mark this site: http://www.i3mmeeting.com and visit it regularly to get updates on the 8I3M conference schedule, registration details, paper submission, flight and lodging options, and, of course, deadlines. This year’s conference theme “8I3M: The Human Engine” ties nicely into our common goal of applying, developing, and promoting thermal manikins and advanced thermal modeling to encourage a deeper understanding of the human-environment interaction.
